The more I learn about stewardship, the more I realize that it is about choices. It's not just about my financial choices, but about ALL of my choices, including how I spend my time, what I eat, and how I take care of my stress. For the past three months I have been trying to make better choices around my health.
A great resource for me in my journey to better health has been a free website called "Spark People" at
www.sparkpeople.com
There are tools for tracking my eating and exercise, informative articles, and message boards for sharing information and support. Spark People is free and is supported by advertising dollars.
Many people are also concerned about monitoring their financial health these days. There are a number of sites on the web that can assist you with managing debt and living frugally. These are hot topics at the moment. In addition there is a site that my son introduced me to called "Mint".
www.mint.com
Mint is a site that can be connected to your online accounts (banks, creditcards, investments, etc.) and can give you an over all picture of your financial situation and patterns. For instance, mint will help you see what you are spending in various catagories by showing you where your credit and debit cards are used. Transportation (gas, bus pass, jiffy lube) and grocery (acme, geunardis, clemens, superfresh) expenses each appear in their own catagory and help you to budget more accurately. It can also keep you mindful of what kind of fees and interest you are paying.
Mint is free, but makes money by offering goods and services tailored to you.
What helps you get in shape?
